Residential Bowed Block
(CMU) Wall Repair
A bowed basement CMU wall was stabilized and reinforced using carbon fiber straps, providing a cost-effective, low-intrusion solution that prevented further movement and preserved interior space.
View PDFThe Problem
During a home inspection for a real estate transaction, a bowing CMU basement wall was discovered. The inward movement created structural concerns that needed to be addressed quickly.
If left untreated, the wall could continue to bow, leading to more expensive and invasive repairs. Traditional solutions like excavation or steel beams would increase cost, reduce usable space, and still may not reinforce the entire wall height.
⚠ Needed to stabilize a bowing foundation wall in a cost effective way without major disruption.
The Solution
EcoSpect selected a carbon fiber reinforced polymer system to strengthen the wall from top to bottom while keeping the repair simple and minimally invasive.
The wall was prepared, damaged mortar was repaired, and multiple carbon fiber straps were applied to stop further movement and reinforce the structure. An additional strap was installed in a high stress area for extra strength.
This solution stabilized the wall, preserved interior space, and provided a clean finish while allowing the real estate transaction to move forward.
